Dr. Pat Petrie, Professor, Institute of Education, University of London, presented her research on the subject of “social pedagogy” to the 2008 Oxford Round Table at the Oxford Union Debating Society, University of Oxford. Dr. Petrie, author of many books (McGraw Hill and Wiley Publishers) and articles on the education of children and the idea of social pedagogy is a member of the Research Faculty of Children and Health, Thomas Coram Research Unit, University of London. Professor Petrie’s research in social pedagogy has been funded by grants from the Department of Health and Department of Children, British Government and has been reported by the House of Commons. Her work has extended throughout the European Union, in particular in Denmark, France and Germany. She founded the European Network for school-age Childcare (ENSAC). |
